Secret Diary Of a Call Girl

In the opening scene of the secret diary of a call girl we are able to notice that the man in the wheel chair is paying the call girl money for sexual feather which suggest that she is a prostitute. In this essay i will be explaining how disability is being represented in the film by the use of camera shots, sound, mise en scene and editing.
Mise en scene show us that the man in the wheel chair is shown and this show use that the wheel chair he is in is a symbol of his disability. in the opening scene we see him and his father walk through the call girls house it seem like his father is more nervous then he is and this show us that his father feel his son is not able to do it, this suggest that disabled people are not protrude to be sexual and this is because of there disability. Also the way the father was acting in the van show us that he is really comfortable with the situation because he try to do suff which will distract him like playing with the chair and playing music out loud. The call girls apartment does not have a ramps it has stair which is not suitably for wheelchair user, This shows that the call girl may not usually have disabled customers. when the call girl take of his top we are able to notice that he is not able to do many things and rely on other to do them for him.
Camera shot show us a til shot at the being to introduce us to the main protagonist who is disabled, the til shot show us that the call girl first start at the father then at blake which mean it easy to address to a person who is standing then is sitting in a wheelchair.  A wide long shot  show us the Blake wheelchair and the stairs, this allows us to understand that the apartment was not built for disabled people and that the majority of the customer are not disabled. there a close up of the expression on Blake face  when he enter the house and when the women is taking him, this suggest that Blake is not use to this and being touch other then his father helping him around and his PA and this could be because of his disability. There is a close up on his father face which shows us an expression that he does not  want to leave his son alone in the room with that women.
Editing show us shot of Blake father carries him on to the bed show us that he is depend on others and is not able to much alone. The jump cuts to his father in the van shows us that the cant not take knowing that his son is in the hand of another person is hard for him to take. Cut between flat and van an shot to the father reveal his thought and are being replaced by the actions in his van, this allows us to understand that he is distracting himself to forget about the situation.
Sounds allows us to listen to what type of thing we can hear. Like the non diegetic sound start from the shot when the father is in the van and moves on to when there in the flat and the call girl is touching him this is when they were starting to become intimate. The call girl apologises to blake for locking the door. This show us that she is not use to working with diabled people.

Hotel Babylon

This essay with be showing how ethnicity is represented in the film. In the film Hotel Babylon there are many different ethnicity shown. Hotel Babylon is set in a hotel and the film is based on employees which work in the hotel.
In the mise en scene of Hotel Babylon we see a black man talking to another black man, it seems like they were Friends from before because of there conversation. the black man was shocked to see the other man and we can see this from his facial expression. The other black man seemed like a stereotypical black man but how come he can afford to be in the hotel and the tattoos and the way he talks makes him seem stereotypical. The maids who work in the hotel are doing favour for more money. We see them enter a japans mans room the man shows them the money and expects them to strip but one of the women  work out. The french maid continues, french maids are stereotypically seen as attractive.
In another scene we see a women giving a man tissue paper who had complained about not having tissue paper in the toilet. She says ' it has happened hundred times this week'. This shows us that she is in charge of the maids and could be there manger. In another clip we see a women and a man who look like they are in charge of the hotel by the way they are dressed. They are going to check on the chiefs to see if they are getting along. We see the chiefs in the kitchen acting like the get along but when the women and the man leave, the get into an argument and the shot Italian man raise a knife which seem like he is aggressive. The women who is in charge of the maids sees the french maid walking out of the room closing her dress, this may give a wrong expression to her manger.
When focusing on the sound we hear music from the japans mans room while the maid is striping. We are able to notice the way the black mans Friend is talking is not posh and may be odd in the hotel compared to the other customers. We are also able to notice the accents the employees such as the french maid who sound french and the japans man who does not talk but makes wired sounds. Also the Italian man who has an Italian ascent and the other people all sound British.
when focusing on the camera we are able to see close ups of all the characters to shows us the ethnicity an what they look like. Such as close up on the black man to show us his facial expression. we also see a long shot of the black man walking this show us that he is not a stereotypical black man and he was wearing a suit which makes him look professional.
to conclude i am able to tell that ethnicity is represent as a stereotype for each character in the clip. the majority of the character live up to the stereotype and who it is portrayed.

Blackpool

In the opening scene Blackpool we are able to tell that there is a family with a mother, father and there daughter. The parent are waiting home to see there daughter boyfriend and thinking what he would be like. they are shocked when they see him because he has a similar age to the father which shock and annoys her father.

In the opening scene we are able to tell that the parent are dress like their in the nineties and if we were not  able to see the daughter walk in the audience may feel that the film is set in the nineties because of there dress scene. When the daughter walk in with her boyfriend we notice that see look older then her age which could suggest that she feel she is mature to be in a relationship with a man that twice her age. In the parent relationship we are able to tell that they are not close. For example the daughter and her boyfriend are sitting close together which  show that they are close in there relationship unlike the parent which sit spaced out from each other which show that there relationship is not really close.

In the opening scene by consterating on the sound we hear their conversation of the parent and when the daughter and boyfriend appeared. we are also able to hear the door knocking, feet walking, breathing when everybody quiet because of the tention, shouting (talking really loud) and laughing. By concentrating on the sound we are able to tell what sort of character thy are. Like the father seem like a loud person with a temper. The mother seem like clam and controlling person toward the father because she gave him a look while he was talking to the boyfriend which made him quiet. the daughter seems defencive over her boyfriend we are able to tell this when the father tries to talk to her boyfriend she answers the question's for him, this show us that she loves him. The boyfriend seem informal

The camera shots in the opening scene we can that the husband and wife ere separated this suggest their relationship is not close because in a shot they sitting not close together, it seem like they are symmetrical separated also the matching curtain and culturally are on each side of them. A long shot of the family sitting around the table showing them all together and who the daugther and her boyfriend and sitting close together and the parent sitting not as close.

In the opening scene we can tell editing we used to show a close up of all the the faces to show them alone. Also editing show us both the couple close up and not close up to show us if they look like a couple. By seeing a close up of the daughter and her boyfriend we are able to tell that they are a couple unlike the parent which are sitting far form each other which may look like they are not a couple.

Primeval

In the opening scene i focused on the visual language which is what i saw, while watching i was able to notice by the first frame that the man was pushing the women away which suggested that he was in charge. i was able to notice that the women riding the truck was not shown as a stereotypical women. She dressed as a man and was working with a group of men. In the second scene we are able to notice that there is another women who was dressed  in a stereotypical way in a dress and wearing make-up.  In the film gender is represent in different ways this is because they showed us a women which dressed as a man and worked with men and another women who look like a normal women and how women are thought to be like.

In the opening scene we are able to notice that the protagonist is the man that works with the women; this is because the camera mainly focuses on him. Even though we may think that the women in the truck is the hero because she saved him from the animal which chased him, but in that same scene the man got the attention of the cheater so that it would leave the women alone. Also while they were having a conversation the camera forced on the mans facial expression even while he was not talking. the camera moves in closer to give a close up shot of his facial expression. In the opening scene i am not able to tell how the antagonist of the film is.

The enigma code of the film is while they were having a conversation and we did not know what was going to happen. The action code is when the man was being chased by the animal and trying to save his life. The equilibrium of the film is when the man and the women were having a conversation and the disequilibrium is when the cheater came a tried to eat or kill the man. Last of all the new equilibrium is when the women saved the man a shot the cheater and harmony returned.

Son Of Rambow

The frame allows us to understand that the people standing out side the cinema, are a community working together to solve something. the problem could be the film that is showing because they are standing outside the cinema, maybe tiring to stop it from being shown to the public.  They all look like a religious group because of the way they are dress in long clothing which covers them. We are able to tell because of the passer who walk pass is wearing different type of clothing which is shorter then the group of peoples clothing. She seem like an out caster because she is not similar to the group because he clothing and her race.

In this frame we can see a young boy looking across the road and going to read the bible. the young boy looks like he comes from the community and is part of the protest of realising the film. he may be reading the bible to show that the film is not a good film and is against the beliefs. the group of people seem like the have encouraged him to do so.

A bunch of people in the cinema watching a film. They are all smoking and staring at the screen with all their attention. In the background we are able to notice the no smoking sign which they seem to be ignoring. It seem like the audience are not really bothered about the sign because the majority of them are smoking.

The child is sitting on the other side of the cinema alone maybe for a reason to video the film and sale it as private copies. He is smoking which is not appropriate for his age, this may gives us the idea that he is not a good child. He is going against the no smoking rule.

In this frame we see the boy running out of the cinema, which could suggest that he got caught and is running out of trouble away from the cinema. He may be running home or somewhere to hide. it seem like he does not want to get caught.

In this frame he is running extremely fast and has not slowed down, this could suggest that he might be late for something. Maybe getting home on time or running back to school.

In this frame the young boy throws a ball at a man who is doing his garden, we can tell that the young boy is a bully and that he picks on people. he could be the antagonist in the film because he smokes and has thrown a ball at a stranger for fun.

In this frame we can see the young boy running past a house. he runs past the house and then the title appears which could suggest that the house is important.

In this frame we see the house we can tell that it is important and could be a main part of the film. This is because we see it before young boy runs past, while he runs past and after he runs past.

Children Of Men, The Battle Of Haditha, Batman

In the first scene of the children of men we are able to understand that there are no children in the UK. the youngest person was the age of 18 and was know all over the country as a celebrity. He was killed because he refused to sign an otograpth. Mise an scence is there are many people in a cafe listing to news. in the news we notice that all the people from different races have been deported back to there countries. we are able to see that the protagonist is the men how is not intrested in the news and pushes through to get a coffe. however we are not sure who the antagonist are and fell it may be the army because the seem to be controlling th country. The enigma code is the the news that people hear and which is very shocking. the action code is the bomb whcih happens in the cafe when the protagonist leaves. The equliibrium is every one in the cafe shop together listening to the news.

In the opening scene of the battle of haditha we are able to notice that the people telling us there view on iraq are in iraq. One of the men does not know why they are in iraq. The mise an scene is the people tellling us there views on iraq and what happened there. the equilibrium is based in iraq and the war. We are not able to know who the antagomist and protagomist are and it could be a mixture between the army and the civilians of the country .

In the opening scene of batman we are able to notice that there will be a burglary some where. The mise an scene is the people in the bank rob the bank and leave bombs in the hands of the bank worker so the die. the burgulares kill each other to have a bigger share and it seem that the joker planed to kill all of them. we notice the antagomist is the joker. we do not see batman so i could say that the protagomist is the man which tries to stop them from robbing his bank. the disiquilibrium is the robbing of the bank.

The opening scene of Se7en, Delicatessen and City of God

In 'se7en' the opening scene gives us a brief idea of the genre of the film, also the creepy sound at the background gives us a clear understanding of what we should expect and what we shouldn't. For example a horror/ thriller film or maybe even sci-fi you tend to see disturbing clips and scary background music, however that isn't always the case. We are introduced by flashing images such as pictures of peoples faces beeing coloured with a red colouring pen, the colour 'red' could suggest violent and blood. Also pictures being cut in a pacfic way, shows this person has planned carefully. However if this person did it in a rush and messy way you would think this person is not prepared and won't succeed. Also pictures being cut could symbolise death and torture One of his main target is to finish this hand made book, which contains several pictures and text written and collected by this person. This clearly shows how desperate and disturbed this person is planning every-step of his task. In my oppinion the target audience should be 15 and over as it has disturbing clips and also violent language, which isn't suitable for those under 15.

TO BE CONTINUED

The opening scene of Se7en, Delicatessen and City of God

In the frist scene of 'se7en' it tells us that it could be a horror film/ thriller. the sound tune was creepy and squeaky at parts showing it could be a horror film. the reason why it could be a horror film is because the character in the opening scene had pictures of people which he colours there face in this could suggest death and cutting out picture which could suggest that they are his targets. Also he is creating a book which   could mean that it is a task which he is trying to set out. In the beginning of the scene the camera shot would get close and move back which could suggest that the text that we are shown often could play a close

three colours blue

In the opening scene of the film we can hear a car wheels speeding. After we see the wheels and are shown a little girl who may be the main character because we only see her in the first scene. It show her sitting in the back of a car going through the tunnel she looks tired this maybe because they have been travelling a long time. The car stops to allow the little girl to go out as she is going out the camera does a panning shot because it moves from the girl straight to her father how was stretching his hand this is becuase he had been driving for a long time although we were not shown his face we could notice that he is tired.

We see a close shot of something leaking which could petrol and in the background we hear the mother calling the little girl, 'hurry Anna'. We know her name and that she is travelling wtih her mother and father. They pass a young boy who was playing on a toy, he was a hitcher asking for a ride but the car want straight passed him and he countinued playing with his toy. All of a sudden the car crushes on a tree. the young boy runs to see if he can help them.

When the petrol is leaking it make a dripping sound which we hear, however the petrol can be a symbol that there life's are running out for them. Also the sound off the toy the boy was playing had the same sound as the petrol dripping this may symbolize the same thing and when the boy was able to hit the stone on the stick the car crushed.

The beginning of the film allows us to get an understanding that the film may be about the little girl or the car crush, because we only hear her name and see the car. This maybe because she does not die and will be the main character of the film.

frist five minutes of 3 films

'Daddy day care' is a family film which the whole family can enjoy. In the frist five minutes of the film the put a song to make it more intresting to the aduiences. This was walking on suneshine. which was played from the beginning when the little boy woke up and got out of bed and walked to words the bathroom. the music paused and we could hear the little boy pee. This was meant to be funny and the music continued which made and we saw him brush his teeth. afterward the little boy walked down the stairs and woke his dad up. He asked his dad if he could stay the day but his father had work. After a while they were in the kitten and the little boy was having breakfast and his dad asked where his cell phone was but the little boy hide it so that he would not go to work and then he liked his note cards and made it all sticky to make him more hate so that he would stay. It made it seem as if his dad thought work was more important. This film would be more appealing to children or a family.

'Are we there yet' is a film which you would enjoy as a family. In the first five minutes of the film there was a theme tune to make it more appealing to the adieunce. There was a car driving up towards a house, it was a man which was going to pick up his date. The date had children and the children did not want their mum to go on a date so they set traps. The man got hit with paint ball slipped many time and got hit by a big snow man. The kids told him not to come back ever again, the children believe that their father will come back so they are planning to keep every man as far away from their mum. This is because they feels she to pretty, the girl say they feel sorry for any 'sucker' that comes near their mum. Then another them tune comes on showing a man  going to buy a car. He buy a car which is expensive and 'hot'. while he is driving the car he stop to let children walk past a chids books falls over and he burps the horn; The child sticks his tongue out and he gets out of the car to shout at the kid. this show he dose not like kids and he may be the man that fall for the kids mother. The film seem interesting and is a good film which children and there family's would enjoy.

'Home alone 4 is a family film'. In the first five of the film it start of in the kitchen and the family are getting ready for school. However one little boy is in the bedroom watching Christmas videos of last Christmas while his mum is calling him to come down stairs. He feel upstet because Christmas wont be the same without his dad and told his mum that he want them to get back together. They are having a conversation about why the separated. He is the youngest which means that his brother and sister tease him. Then his dad walks through the door. This film is mainly for the whole family to enjoy.

How is media vital in modern life?

In this modern life media plays a big role, we usually tend to use it for personal reasons such as entertainment, socialization, learning, communication, business etc. There are many types of platform in the media such as radio which would be used for getting messages across. TV, magazines for entertainment uses, newspaper and billboard will get information across. Also the computer which is the source of media and you will be able to find many things online.

The internet is one of the main reasons why the media is so successful and vital to us this is because as we all know we are able to socialize, watch programmes, listen to music, watch videos, read online newspaper, send and receive mail, access website which will give us information on many things. This has allowed people to communicate to other people around the globe and make new friends or relationships. The internet
allows us to find information about the past and the history of many countries and find out where these countries are.

The mass media allow us to find out what is happening around the world. This shows that the media  is important because it allows us to find out information from around the world, however we also use the media for our own uses such as socialization, communication and entertainment and this may cause us to become too attached and rely on it. For instance people how use the computer to socialize this causes them to hide behind the screen.

Media can be stereotypical because it has the power to label someone or a group of people for something they are or not and people would believe what they hear but are we sure this may be true. This is because it is very powerful.

To conclude I think the media is very vital to this modern life because people rely on the media for so many things and if the media was to collapse and we would be lost. The media allows us to make a social life online and meet new people. The media provided use with many things which we use and may need. I find the internet a very useful source off the media which I use.
